What We Believe

Apostles’ Creed. We believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. The third day He arose again and ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, He shall come again to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

The following statements of basic belief represent the core orthodox tenets of faith of Revelation Church from a biblical perspective:

The Scriptures Inspired

We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, constitutes the divinely inspired Word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 1 Pet. 1:23-25; Heb. 4:12). These Holy Scriptures show people the way to know God and live for His purposes in time and eternity. (2Tim. 3:16 -17; 1Cor. 2:13 ; John 17:17 ).

No one can add to nor subtract from the Holy Scriptures. “You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (Deut 4:2).

“Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it. (Deut 12:32)

“I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.” (Rev 22:18)

Every reasonable effort shall be made to not add or subtract from the truth of the scriptures in the statements of faith of Revelation Church.

For purposes of church doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the Lead Pastor and the Leadership Board are the church’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.

One True God

We believe in the One and only true living God, who has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent, self-revealed “I AM“, and who has further revealed Himself in the Bible as Almighty Father, perfect in love and righteous in all His ways; and through Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son; and by the Holy Spirit, Lord, and giver of life; each with distinctive personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence or being (Gen. 1:1; Col. 1:15-20; John 16:13., John 17:3).

Deity of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin birth. That in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form (Col 2:9) and that He led a sinless life, performed miracles, died an atoning death, was bodily resurrected, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will personally return in power and glory (Luke 1:26-35; John 1:14-18; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6). He is Lord and the Savior of lost and dying humanity.

Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit whose indwelling gives life and power that enables a Christian to live a godly life. The Spirit of God came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and to regenerate, sanctify, comfort, and seal those who believe in Jesus Christ, and to empower them to use spiritual gifts for the carrying out of the work of the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38; 1Corinthians 12-14).

Sin

We believe that all men by nature are dead in sins and trespasses, and in this fallen state, man is unable to remedy his lost condition. Jesus Christ is the only Savior of lost mankind, the only way into the presence of the Father (Rom. 3:23 ; 1 Tim.2:5; John 14:6).

Salvation

We believe that God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16) and that eternal salvation is a gift of God brought to man by grace through the work of the Holy Spirit, and received by obedience of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose flesh was broken and blood was shed on the cross for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 6:28; 10:9-10).

Sanctification

Sanctification is the ongoing process of yielding to God’s Word and His Spirit in order to complete the development of Christ’s nature in us. It is through the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God that the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life (I Thessalonians 4:3, 5:23; II Corinthians 3:18, 6:14-18, II Thessalonians 2:1-3, Romans 8:29, 12:1-2, Hebrews 2:11).

Jesus' Blood

The Blood that Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary was sinless and is sufficient to cleanse mankind of all sin. Jesus died for both our sinfulness and our sins, enabling all those who believe to be free from the penalty of sin, which is death (I John 1:7; Revelation 1:5, 5:9; Colossians 1:20; Romans 3:10-12, 23, 5:9; John 1:29).

Divine Healing & Deliverance from Evil Spirits

We believe that divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel; that deliverance from sickness and from evil spirits is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers (Is. 53:4, 5; Matt 8:16,17; James 5:14-16).

Church

We believe the very nature and purpose of God is revealed in His Church. The Church Universal consists of all who live for God under Jesus’ Lordship, and the Church Local is a body of believing people from all nations, joined together and living under the New Covenant.

The Church is formed of Christians who have invited the Lord Jesus Christ to come and live inside them by His Holy Spirit. They relinquish the authority of their lives over to him thus making Jesus the Lord of their life as well as Savior. They put their trust in what Jesus accomplished for them when He died, was buried, and rose again from the dead (John 1:12; John 14:17, 23; John 15:4; Romans 8:11; Revelation 3:20).

The goal of His Church is to glorify God by worshipping Him in Spirit and in truth and make disciples of all nations (Acts 15:22 ; Matt. 16:18 ; 18:15 -20).

Priesthood of The Believer

We believe in the priesthood of the believer. By the shedding of His blood, Jesus has become the believer’s High Priest and has made it possible for each Christian to have free access to the presence of the Father. In His presence, each one can come to know God and receive from Him (1 Pet. 2:9-10; Heb. 4:14 -16; 10:19 -22).

Evangelism – Missions

We believe in world evangelism and accept the commission of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations, to baptize them, and teach them to observe His commandments. We join with all those believing in Him to accomplish this urgent task to reach out both to the Jewish people to whom the promises of God were first made, and to all nations, and accept this as a personal commission as well as a command to the entire Church (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:20).

Christ’s Return

We believe Jesus Christ will return to earth in a visible way and Christians are exhorted to be watchful and obedient until His appearing. There are diverse viewpoints concerning the timing and circumstances of His second coming and, until He comes Christians should give full attention to obedience. We believe His appearing will occasion the resurrection of the righteous who have died and who are now with Him (1Cor. 15:50 -58; Acts 1:11 ; 1Thess. 4:13 -18).

Judgment

We believe in a final judgment at the end of the age. The righteous and the wicked shall stand before Him and be judged. Those who have righteousness produced by their obedience of the faith will be rewarded with His eternal blessings. Those who are wicked will be condemned. (Matt. 25:31-46; 2 Thess. 1:5-10; Rev. 20:11-15).

Civil Authority

We believe God is the author of all authority, and has ordained spiritual government in His Church. He also has ordained civil government for the establishment of order and peace in the nations and there should be mutual respect between spiritual and civil authority. Civil authority is separated from church government, but should not be separated from God and His law (Rom.13; Dan.2:21-22; Acts 4:18-20).
